Corporate Social Contribution and Activities Toward 2020: Aiming for a Rich Society in Which People Can Fully Express Their Humanity
In 1977, our company recognized that C&C (bringing together Computers and Communication) was an important concept for the 21st century. Our corporate policy is to use ICT technology, our main business area, as a basis for social contribution.
In our social contribution activities, we aim for continuing development that contributes to society, and to be a good corporate citizen that can contribute solutions to social issues. Based on this policy, we have continued medium to long-term support of programs for people with disabilities such as wheelchair basketball, the High School Sign Language Speech Contest, the Guide Dog Caravan, and the IT Communication Support Course for People with Severe Disabilities.
In product and solution development, we promote universal design based on "Social Value Design" which focuses on whether a broad range of users has been considered, and whether it is useful in solving social problems. Examples include ATMs at convenience stores, web accessibility building, airport flight information systems, and solutions for safe evacuation guidance in the event of a disaster.
The 1964 Tokyo Olympics were the first Olympic Games to be broadcast by satellite, and satellite communication equipment from our company played an active role. For 2020, we hope to contribute to the success of the Games and to building a legacy, and for that we are strengthening our initiatives in promoting and spreading sports, education, and culture. Through our activities supporting para sports, we hope to make a contribution to building a universal society.
