Report on the Results of the Fourth Survey on Public Awareness of and Interest in Parasports in Japan

To date, the Paralympic Research Group has conducted three social surveys--in 2014, 2017, and 2021--focusing primarily on public awareness of and interest in parasports, intentions to volunteer at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, and expectations for the Games. Four years have passed since the Tokyo Games were held, and as the fourth iteration of this survey, responses were collected online from 5,000 men and women aged 20 to 69 who are registered as survey monitors with a major domestic research company.

Purpose of the Survey

The purpose of this survey is to clarify changes in public awareness of and interest in parasports, evaluations of the Tokyo Paralympic Games, the social impact of hosting the Games domestically, and trends in future behavioral intentions related to parasports, and to obtain basic data that will contribute to the future promotion of parasports.
