Parasports and an Inclusive Society: Report on the First Survey
"Parasports and an Inclusive Society: Report on the First Survey"
In June 2018, The Nippon Foundation Paralympic Support Center and Nagano Prefecture concluded the Agreement on Collaboration and Cooperation toward the Creation of an Inclusive Society through Sports. As a concrete initiative under this agreement, the Para Wave NAGANO project aims to promote the creation of inclusive local communities by spreading the appeal of "parasports," which can be enjoyed by everyone, as a large wave throughout society.
To verify the effects of this project and to clarify the impact of parasports on awareness of coexistence with persons with disabilities, an internet survey using random sampling was conducted targeting residents of Nagano Prefecture (1,030 respondents) and the other 46 prefectures (206 respondents each). Here, we present the results of the nationwide survey.
