Joint Survey with the Development Bank of Japan, Showcasing Advanced Initiatives by 10 Companies Supporting Para Sports

The Nippon Foundation Paralympic Research Group, in collaboration with the Development Bank of Japan Inc., has conducted a joint survey titled "Corporate Support for Para Sports: Business Activities Promoting an Inclusive Society" and has published the survey report.

This joint survey was carried out in the lead-up to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games with the aim of encouraging the long-term expansion and institutionalization of corporate initiatives that contribute to building an inclusive society--one in which there is no distinction between people with and without disabilities.

The survey involved interviews with ten Japanese companies engaged in a range of initiatives, including the employment of para-athletes, sponsorship of sports federations and competitions, product development incorporating the perspectives of persons with disabilities, and inclusive marketing and sales promotion activities. By examining each company's corporate philosophy, background and motivations for engagement, as well as the achievements, current status, effectiveness, and challenges of their respective initiatives, the report presents diverse measures as practical prototypes. The findings are compiled to serve as a reference for companies considering support for para sports.
