Paralympic Research Group (PRG)
1. Purpose of the PRG
To study the history and perspectives of the Paralympic Movement and based on this study to put forward suggestions and possibilities for the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games.
2. Major areas of research (Research plan)
(1) Compiling reference materials and data on past Paralympic Games
(2) Analyzing and evaluating the social and economic significance of the Paralympics
(3) Research on tasks directly related to preparations for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games
3. Composition of the PRG
The PRG is headed by Kazuo Ogoura, former Secretary General of the Council of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Paralympic Bid Committee and current President of The Nippon Foundation Parasports Support Center, and is composed of research fellows.
In conducting the research, the Group will hold discussions and exchange views with various experts including academics, Paralympic athletes, members of the business sector, the Japanese Paralympic Committee and other organizations and individuals associated with disability sports, and journalists.
